COMMUNITY groups

Several community groups meet at the Mountain Brook Community Center. Although not formally associated with the Mountain Brook Homestead Foundation, these groups provide support and volunteers for many of the Homestead Foundation events.

Mountain Brook
Ladies Club

The Mountain Brook Ladies Club has a long history of service to the Mountain Brook community. This group of busy ladies welcomes new residents, sends get-well cards and provides meals to ailing neighbors, and donate quilts for fundraising raffles. Monthly meetings may be held in members’ homes or at the Community Center.

The Mountain Splendor Quilt, in the photo, was made and donated by the Mountain Brook Ladies Club to be raffled off at the Fall Pie Social in September 2023.

gardening club

The Mountain Brook Gardening Club meets at the Community Center on the last Wednesday of every month at 7 pm. All current and aspiring gardeners are welcome! The core group of gardeners has over 100 years of combine experience gardening in the challenging climate here, and they are happy to share what they have learned.

Sewing

A group of dedicated sewists and other artisans meets every Thursday from 10-3 at the Community Center. Discussions are informal and cover a wide variety of topics.

Some of these community members also belong to the Mountain Brook Craft Co-Op, which puts on a two-day sale every September. The sale is held at the nearby Mountain View Mennonite Church. Shoppers have the opportunity to get a jump on their holiday gift giving and can choose from sewn and quilted items, professional photography, book art, and paintings.
